Remontoire ’68 Ltd hold Haute Horology Event in Cheltenham
Haute Horology Event Cheltenham
An evening of Haute Horology in association with Beards Jewellers in Cheltenham was well attended by over 60 watch enthusiasts. It was presented by Stephen Lee (MD & Co-Founder ) of Remontoire 68 Ltd, with guest speaker & journalist Angus Davies from Escapement Magazine offering an insight into independent watchmaking with brands such as Arnold & Son, Angelus Watches, Fabergé, Schwarz Etienne, and Tutima Glashütte/SA. Also in attendance courtesy of The Limited Edition and MD Pietro Tomajer were HYT, Armin Strom & Louis Moinet. This was a wonderful collection of watch houses highlighting exclusive, highly engineered timepieces, crafted not for commerciality but for the love of Horology itself.
Never before have so many independent brands come to the High Street together to showcase the alternatives to the numerous mainstream brands seen in many multiple locations in our towns and cities. Rather than saturating markets these independent brands showcase their finesse, skill, attention to detail and dare to be different producing high complications such as Tourbillons, Minute Repeaters, Retrogrades, Perpetual Moonphase/Calendars to name a few.
Some of the brands in attendance will produce only a few hundred timepieces whilst even the highest will only make several thousand. Schwarz Etienne who manufacture movements and all components including Hairsprings (1 of 3 companies in the world to do so along with Parmigiani & Swatch Group Nivarox) showed off their Roma, Roswell, Fiji collections & La Chaux-du-Fond Tourbillon with retrograde second (Pictured Below)
Remontoire ’68 Ltd would like to thank all staff at Beard’s Jewellers and the brands for their help and assistance in making the evening a success, especially Chantal Graff of Schwarz Etienne, Anthony Von Voos from Arnold & Son for flying over from Switzerland to enlighten the evening with their brand awareness and technical knowhow. The event was also supported by Dave Brailsford, Founder of The Watchmakers Club and British Watch Manufacturing Brand Garrick Watches along with Andy Good from the The Devoy Group, all like minded people promoting the “Indie Brands”.
The Haute Horology Event now moves on to Harrogate on the 26th September in conjunction with Ogden’s Jewellers and includes Parmigiani Fleurier in the line up. Friend of the independent brands Angus Davies will again attend along with Head of Restoration & Pieces of Exception for Parmigiani, Patrick Wehril.
I hope to see you there.
Kind Regards
Stephen
