The moonphase has inspired a universe-themed engraving in the outer case.

The Oktopus Crazy Universe celebrates the brand’s coming of age by mastering Titanium Grade 5, an infamously challenging case material, with an intricate blend of satin, polished and microbillé finishing to create a stunning interplay of light reflections, heightening the photorealistic moons in the iconic in-house complication.

This timepiece is the second collaboration with master engraver Johnny Dowell. As with the Oktopus Reef that Dowell worked on, this new project saw him take an existing Linde Werdelin piece and transform it with a full-case engraving. While the Oktopus Reef depicted an underwater scene, the Oktopus Crazy Universe looked up for inspiration, getting lost amongst the stars.

The whole process, from designs to finished engraving, required up to 100 hours of craftsmanship. Adorning the case are drawings of the sun, various planets, including Earth, on the six o’clock facet, Mars, Saturn and Pluto, moons and shooting stars. The space theme is derived from the Oktopus moonphase complication, bringing the scene to life.
